EMPOWERING ARTISTIC JOURNEYS

Summer 2025 Residency

During her residency at MAM-Y in July 2025, artist Kristine Tsala transformed the environment into a space of intimacy, experimentation, and storytelling. Renowned for her subtle yet powerful explorations of memory, identity, and the female form, she deepened her practice in dialogue with the city of Abidjan and the institution’s nomadic spirit. With access to MAM-Y’s rich library and its serene, green surroundings, Tsala found the ideal environment for both research and meditation, allowing her ideas to unfold with clarity and depth. Through workshops, open studios, and community encounters, she invited audiences into her creative process, dissolving boundaries between maker and witness. The residency reaffirmed MAM-Y’s mission as a dynamic platform for artistic exchange, while underscoring Tsala’s distinctive voice as one of the continent’s most compelling contemporary artists.
